Fountain Assembly and Cleaning

Fountain pic 1.jpg

Assembly Easy Peasy!

  • There are 6 parts of the fountain:  the bowl, pump hide, pump and tubing,

large ceramic leaf, small ceramic leaves and mesh bag with carbon.

  • For customers that purchased an Owl/Rounded/Raised Ball Fountain,

the small leaves are not needed.

  • Place the pump and tubing in to the middle of the bowl

  • Gently wash the mesh bag with carbon under warm water.

  • Place either on top of the pump or by the side of the pump.

  • Place the pump hide over the pump and tubing and mesh bag,

making sure that the end of the tubing fits through the hole in the

       pump hide.

  • Fit the larger ceramic leaf over the pump cord to hide it.

  • Place the smaller leaves in the top bowl of the pump hide.

  • Fill with water and plug in!

Cleaning – Quick and Easy!

Bowl and Pump Hide:

  • Unplug the pump from the wall and move your fountain to the sink.

  • Take off the pump hide and remove the pump.

  • The bowl and pump hide can be washed with warm soapy water.

  • Rinse with clean warm water.

Pump

  • The pump has 3 parts (impeller, impeller cover & screen) that can

       be easily disassembled as follows:

  • I clean my pumps thoroughly once a month.

  • Remove the screen – it may give a little resistance but simply pulls off.

  • Remove impeller cover (tear dropped shaped piece) – put your nail

under the pointed end and it pulls off.

  • Remove the impeller - the impeller is magnetically held in place -

if you have difficulty pulling this out you may want to use a small

pair of tweezers.  Handle this piece gently so as not to damage it.

  • Clean the 3 pieces with warm soapy water (Q-tips are a great to get into the corners), and then rinse.

Tubing and Carbon Filter:

  • I use medical grade silicon tubing.  This can be cleaned by running under warm water and using a Q-Tip to clean the  inside the tube.

  • The carbon filter (mesh bag) should be rinsed under warm water. I recommend that the carbon in the bag be replaced every 2-4 months (depending on how many furries you have using the fountain), but using filtered water in the fountain can extend the life of the carbon. You can buy activated carbon pellets online from Amazon

Adjusting Flow:

  • I use two types of pump depending on the type of fountain design you purchased.

  • For bowl type fountains you can adjust the flow with the small switch at the front of the pump (there are 3 settings)

  • For rounded/ball/raised ball and owl fountains there is an adjustable flow wheel on the front of the pump.
